"May I ask you a personal question? I hope you wouldn’t feel offended by it. You said that you hate the community but you left me confused. That’s why I’m asking this question to you. Yesterday, you behaved quite normally while talking with the young man who belonged to the same community. What’s the exact reason behind it? Would you care to explain it to me? I’m really curious to know. Do you really hate them? I’m quite doubtful."
On a couple of occasions, my friend himself told me that he had hatred for the community. He gave its reasons too. Despite of the confession, the way he behaved, expressed and maintained himself during the interaction with the man was really worth paying close and unwavering attention to. Was he genuine or simply trying to deceive the man to appear polite in the public place, throughout the interaction?
The interesting interaction between my friend and the young man lasted for 10 minutes. My friend was smiling at the young man while speaking. He had kept both of his arms uncrossed, feet pointed in his direction and torso perfectly facing the young man. He was making comfortable eye contact with the man. He asked the same man a few personal questions and finally wished him well too. Hatred? Really? Very confusing!
As he started to reveal the exact reason behind his behaviour with the young man; I realized that he had a deep, long and respectful relation with the man and his family. Actually, the young man's mother was the classmate of my friend. Her entire family was well educated and moderate while practicing their faith. He didn't miss to mention how nicely and elaborately she cleared his serious doubts about some of their practices.
Over months, I’ve closely watched my friend interacting with different kinds of people at different times. Hence, I was totally aware about his individual body language baseline. My friend was behaving very normally with the young man who belonged to the exactly same community that he confessed to hate. Just like anybody, I was initially confused then I got motivated to face him in private and to investigate if he was deceiving.
As I’ve closely witnessed it on several occasions, I’d kindly like to share my honest conclusion with you - Hateful behaviour or Hatred can be very context specific. Due to political, historical or ideological reasons; people openly say that they don't like or hate the (entire) community. However, they may have very good, stronger or even exceptional relations with specific members of the same community.
