Ohh, you did it (once again!). Actually, it's not YOU but your mind did it. You couldn't control it at all. Of course, you didn't realise while it was happening. Surprisingly, I forgot to simply put the word 'subconscious' before the word 'mind'? What really happened is that your subconscious mind made a judgement about the man, within a fraction of a second you looked at the above image. It was instant!
On the left side, a man standing in a white coat with a stethoscope hanging around his neck. On the right side, the same man is standing in a red sleeveless t-shirt with both of his fully exposed hands filled with various tattoos. According to your instant subconscious judgement, first one is surely a doctor and second one could be a gang member, a drug trafficker, a guitarist or a bankrupt man whose partner left him overnight and who shaves his head off to save money on hair care.
Over the years, millions of people across the world has been systematically programmed, bombarded or brainwashed by the same quotes that you might have skipped while looking at the two images of a cute bald man in drastically different avatars. From shaking hand with a new person for the first time in a meeting to looking at a smiling person in a social media post, your subconscious mind judges everybody. So what possibly could go wrong with it?

ReplyDeleteThe mind is amazing that it constantly learns and forms subtle options, a quiet conditioning that jumps to form the first impression. Well that is what it is programmed to and we need to pause and become objective afterwards!
